The British Chamber of Commerce Philippines (BCCP) is set to host on Feb. 27, 2025 its highly anticipated Trade & Connect event, “Navigating the Future: Unlocking Sustainable and Green Investment Opportunities,” at Flat Planet Workspace from 4:00 - 6:00 PM. The event is organized with the support of its major sponsor: KPMG, venue partner: Flat Planet Workspace, and Manila Bulletin as a media partner. This exclusive gathering brings together key industry leaders, policymakers, and financial experts to discuss the next steps in accelerating sustainable investments in the country.

As the Philippines continues to prioritize an inclusive, sustainable, and green economic trajectory, BCCP aims to spotlight emerging opportunities in renewable energy, ESG financing, and climate-resilient infrastructure. The government’s commitment is evident in initiatives such as the  Php 4.54 trillion BOI project approvals and the Green Lane initiative under Executive Order No. 18, making the Philippines a prime destination for foreign investors seeking long-term, responsible investments.

The event will feature a keynote address from the Department of Energy, who will highlight advancements in renewable energy and policy reforms fostering foreign participation in the sector. Subsequently, the Department of Finance will discuss green financing mechanisms and how businesses can leverage ESG-driven incentives for sustainable growth. Meanwhile, a key session on green financing for SMEs and Startups will explore how small and medium enterprises can access financial resources such as green bonds and venture capital to scale eco-friendly initiatives, and government-backed funds.

With private sectors having a pivotal role in driving green innovation, a session dedicated to business investment  models highlights how private companies, multinational corporations, and investment funds are integrating sustainability into their business strategies. Especially with the recent large-scale green investments, with Actis heading a $600 million investment in the Terra Solar project, the world’s largest integrated renewables and energy storage project. This marks a significant milestone in positioning the Philippines as a groundbreaker in renewable energy while simultaneously underscoring the crucial role of private sector participation in business development.

Similar to the previous Trade & Connect events, the upcoming forum will culminate in a high-level panel discussion, which aims to explore how public-private partnerships can drive the shift toward a circular economy. BCCP Executive Chairman Chris Nelson has continuously emphasized that renewable energy is of utmost importance, adding that, “Energy will be a key requirement. There's clearly a push for renewable energy and the Philippines, and the UK can assist in that matter.”

With green investment taking a center stage in the Philippines’ economic agenda, this event offers a unique platform for business leaders and investors to gain exclusive insights, foster collaborations, and explore strategies to integrate sustainability into their operations.
