ILOILO CITY — The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology Western Visayas (BJMP-6) has launched an administrative investigation into one of its personnel who was linked to illegal drug activities.

The internal probe on its officer from Dumangas District Jail comes after a suspect in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Balantang, Jaro in Iloilo City, on Friday, named the BJMP officer as a source of illegal drugs.

The operation led to the arrest of two high-value individuals and the seizure of approximately 350 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated market value of P2.38 million.

Arrested were a 36-year-old woman from Barangay Balantang and a 41-year-old driver from Anilao, Iloilo.

In a statement released on Thursday, the BJMP-6 confirmed that the implicated personnel is now under restricted status and is reporting to the regional office pending the results of the ongoing investigation.

"[The] personnel will face serious administrative offense with the possible penalty of dismissal if ever found to be directly involved in the violation of the provisions of Republic Act No. 9165," the BJMP-6 statement read.

Jail CSupt. Simeon Dolojo said that the agency is committed to upholding integrity and accountability in its ranks.

"The BJMP-6 will not hesitate to terminate and dismiss any personnel, regardless of rank, if ever they are found to be involved in any illegal activities," he said.

"We will not condone and let these erring personnel remain in our ranks," he added.

Dolojo also reassured the public that BJMP-6 remains steadfast in its duty to maintain professionalism and protect public safety.

"We are committed, law-abiding public servants, and we will continue to implement measures to expunge erring personnel from our ranks so we can faithfully deliver our mandate," he added.
