Barbie Hsu’s husband Koo Jun-yup vows to protect her children ‘from the wicked’

MANILA, Philippines – Late Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu‘s husband, Koo Jun-yup, took to Instagram on Thursday, February 6, vowing to take legal action to protect the young children of his wife “from the wicked.”

Koo broke his silence to mourn Hsu’s sudden passing at age 48. In a translated post by South China Morning Post, he pledged to give his share of her hard-earned inheritance to the mother of the Meteor Garden star.

“I am in indescribable sadness and pain, as if my heart is being cut by a knife and my insides are torn apart. I have no strength to speak, nor do I want to,” Koo wrote in a mix of Chinese and Korean.

In his post, Koo claimed that certain individuals were tarnishing his family’s name, pretending to mourn “while walking in the rain.”

Koo and Hsu previously dated and rekindled their relationship in 2022, marrying shortly after she ended her decade-long marriage to Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei.

Hsu and Wang, who shared a daughter and a son, had a tumultuous relationship afterwards, exchanging accusations on social media and filing lawsuits.

Koo’s statement comes just a day after Hsu’s ashes were brought back to Taiwan from Japan, where she succumbed to influenza-induced pneumonia and was cremated.

Hsu’s death was confirmed by her family on February 3.

The Taiwanese actress was best known for her portrayal of Dong Shan Cai in the series Meteor Garden, which is widely believed to have ignited the rise of Asian novelas among neighboring countries, including the Philippines.
