Wyn Power Corporation has partnered with Whole Sun Green Power Co. Ltd., a subsidiary of Taiwan-based Giga Solar Materials Corp., to advance its solar project in Batangas.

In a statement on Tuesday, March 25, Whole Sun said it will collaborate with Wyn Power on its 50-megawatt peak (MWp) ground-mounted solar project in Taysan, Batangas.

The project, which broke ground earlier this month, is expected to commence development soon and supply electricity to Batangas Electric Cooperative II (BATELEC II).

"This collaboration marks a significant strategic expansion for Whole Sun Energy in the Philippine market, strengthening its presence in the Southeast Asian renewable energy sector," it said. "Whole Sun Energy aims to provide stable and sustainable green power to the Philippines, optimizing the regional energy structure and accelerating the global transition to clean energy."

Upon completion, the project is projected to generate 74 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of renewable energy, reducing carbon emissions by at least 45,000 tons annually.

The ₱1.5-billion solar project secured a green energy tariff of ₱4.10/kWh in the Department of Energy's (DOE) second Green Energy Auction (GEA 2).

"All necessary permits have been obtained, including approval of the System Impact Study by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) and the Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)," the statement added.

Wyn Power has completed approximately 2,300 renewable energy projects and installed around 4,000 transformers nationwide.

Its projects are concentrated in Batangas, but the company has also developed projects in Cagayan, Cavite, Ilocos Norte, Isabela, Laguna, parts of the National Capital Region (NCR), Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Aklan, Cebu, Davao, Leyte, Negros Occidental, Oriental Mindoro, and Palawan.
