MANILA, Philippines — The world is getting smaller for Charlie “Atong” Ang as the Philippine National Police has intensified manhunt operations against the gaming tycoon after he eluded arrest last week, Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla said yesterday.
“We are hot on his trail. Paliit na nang paliit ‘yung mundo niya,” Remulla said over radio dzMM.
Even if Ang manages to flee the country, he will have to deal with a red notice from the International Criminal Police Organization or Interpol.
Remulla said Ang is just moving around Calabarzon with a small group, using several different vehicles to avoid detection by law enforcement authorities.
While he did not specify where exactly Ang was spotted, Remulla said the businessman has properties in Batangas and Laguna.
Ang also has a property in Central Luzon, the department chief said.
Remulla warned the people coddling Ang to back off as they will also face criminal cases for harboring a fugitive.
“Harboring a fugitive, penalty for that is also heavy,” he said.
Ang is facing three arrest warrants issued by Batangas and Laguna courts for the kidnapping and murder of cockfight aficionados or sabungeros.
