MANILA, Philippines — With the Philippines named the world’s most disaster-prone country in the 2025 World Risk Index, climate-related disruptions to livelihoods are becoming more frequent and costly.
Against this backdrop, more than 30 women-led or women-benefiting social enterprises from across the Philippines will convene in Makati City on January 30 for the Fair Futures Venture Showcase to present clean energy, circular economy and climate-resilient livelihood initiatives built for Philippine communities.
Many of these enterprises continue to face challenges in accessing financing and markets, limiting how quickly their solutions can be expanded.
To help boost their local climate solutions, the event brings together entrepreneurs with impact investors, microfinance institutions, development partners and ecosystem leaders to explore how these solutions can reach more communities.
Through connecting enterprises with potential partners, the event will help them unlock the financing needed to adopt cleaner technologies and promote a sustainable economy that is inclusive and fair for all.
“By investing in women-led and gender-inclusive enterprises, we create pathways for clean technologies, sustainable livelihoods and a greener economy that leaves no one behind. This is how we turn ambition into action and action into resilience,” said Jonas Gregory Perez, national programme officer of UN Women.
Beyond the entrepreneurs’ presentations, the afternoon program will feature discussions on financing clean energy and climate-resilient enterprises, keynote addresses from UN Women and the United Nations Environment Programme, and introductions to enterprises from the Fair Futures Accelerator.
“Fair Futures is about ensuring that those closest to the challenges of climate change are empowered to lead the solutions. We are committed to supporting entrepreneurs with the tools, knowledge, and financing they need to scale impact where it matters most, to enable a just transition in the Philippines,” said Priya Thachadi, co-founder and CEO of Villgro Philippines.
Villgro Philippines leads the Fair Futures Accelerator, in partnership with the Microfinance Council of the Philippines Inc. (MCPI) under the EmPower: Women for Climate-Resilient Societies initiative, jointly implemented by UN Women and UNEP.
The Fair Futures Venture Showcase will be held on January 30, 1 to 5 p.m., in Makati City. To secure your slot, visit https://bit.ly/FFVS-signup.
