Sen. Bato Dela Rosa appeared for the second time in the Senate after months of non-attendance since November due to a warrant of the International Criminal Court.

MANILA, Philippines — A youth group has launched an online petition urging the government to withhold Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla’s salary over what it described as failures in carrying out his mandate, including the non-arrest of Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa.

In a statement dated May 16, the Samahan ng Progresibong Kabataan (SPARK) said around 600 people had signed an online petition seeking to stop Remulla’s salary, claiming the interior chief had “failed to uphold his mandate” since joining the Cabinet in 2024.

The group said Remulla’s alleged failure to arrest Dela Rosa “was the final straw in a long line of incompetence and dereliction of duty.”

SPARK further cited Commission on Audit figures showing that Remulla receives an annual salary of P4.672 million, arguing that public officials should likewise be subject to a “no work, no pay” policy.
