MISS UNIVERSE PHILIPPINES 2025

While online pageant fans only saw the coronation of Ahtisa Manalo as Miss Universe Philippines 2025, the other queens also deserve their share of the spotlight as The Miss Philippines winners

MANILA, Philippines – After Ahtisa Manalo bagged the Miss Universe Philippines 2025 crown, online fans didn’t get to see the coronation of three more queens who will represent the country in other international pageants.

But at the venue, the ceremonies continued with three more ladies from the Top 6 winning their own national titles — Katrina Llegado was crowned The Miss Philippines-Supranational, Chelsea Fernandez was hailed The Miss Philippines-Cosmo, and Gabriella Carballo was proclaimed The Miss Philippines-Eco International.

These titles are under the Miss Universe Philippines pageant’s sister brand, The Miss Philippines.

So technically, they’re not under the official organization of Miss Universe, the only pageant featured in the official broadcast.

But The Miss Philippines has been sending the country’s representatives to the other international competitions, which has franchises held by Empire Philippines, organizer of these national searches, including Miss Universe Philippines.

The Miss Universe license was previously held by the Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc.

Since the turnover, the Miss Universe Philippines pageant ran as a standalone national competition, with the candidates competing for just one title from 2020 to 2022.

In 2023, Empire Philippines also acquired the franchises for the Miss Supranational and Miss Charm pageants, and chose the country’s representatives to the two international contests from the Miss Universe Philippines pageant that year.

Michelle Marquez Dee took home the Miss Universe title, then in a separate program held at a different venue hours after the national pageant ended, another coronation was held.

Dee’s fellow finalists Pauline Amelinckx and Krishnah Gravidez were crowned as Miss Supranational Philippines and Miss Charm Philippines, respectively.

After Amelinckx finished first runner-up in the Miss Supranational pageant in Poland, Empire Philippines proclaimed her as the first The Miss Philippines titleholder, while launching another competition for the country’s representatives to various international contests.

In October 2023, the first The Miss Philippines coronation show was mounted. It would also be the last. The contest was held in tandem with Empire Philippines’ male search, Mister Pilipinas Worldwide.

Alethea Ambrosio of Bulacan inherited the crown as The Miss Philippines from Amelinckx. She was officially declared as the country’s Miss Supranational 2024 candidate in a press conference held in February 2024.

Her fellow The Miss Philippines finalists also received their respective international pageant assignments — Chantal Schmidt was crowned  Miss Eco International Philippines, Blessa Figueroa was hailed Miss Asia Pacific International Philippines, and Isabelle de los Santos was proclaimed Miss Aura International Philippines.

Ambrosio received the Miss Supranational Asia and Oceania title from her international competition, while the rest of her fellow The Miss Philippines titleholders landed runner-up spots in their respective global contests.

In 2024, the runners-up and finalists of new Miss Universe Philippines Chelsea Manalo were crowned on the same stage. They were named The Miss Philippines titleholders, just minutes after Chelsea’s win.

Ahtisa Manalo, who was second runner-up in the 2024 pageant, was named Miss Cosmo Philippines, while third runner-up Tarah Valencia inherited the Miss Supranational Philippines crown from Ambrosio.

Finalists Alexie Brooks and Cyrille Payumo received the Miss Eco International Philippines and Miss Charm Philippines titles, respectively.

Weeks later, all their titles were rebranded to carry “The Miss Philippines” brand itself.

Ahtisa Manalo would become The Miss Philippines-Cosmo, Valencia as The Miss Philippines-Supranational, Brooks was The Miss Philippines-Eco International, while Payumo’s was changed to The Miss Philippines-Charm.

The organizers retained this format for the national titles in awarding the crowns this year to Llegado, Fernandez, and Carballo.

Among them, Fernandez is the one scheduled to compete this year. The second edition of the Miss Cosmo pageant will be held in Vietnam before the end of 2025.

Llegado and Carballo will compete in next year’s editions of their international pageants.

A year after their wins, Valencia is scheduled to fly to Poland next month for Miss Supranational 2025, while Brooks had just won the Miss Eco International title in Egypt last month.

Payumo did not yet crown a Miss Charm successor because the international competition still hasn’t released any details for this year’s contest. – Rappler.com
