Philippine authorities say they expect to catch more suspected spies soon
The recent arrests of several Chinese nationals suspected of espionage offer a glimpse of another country’s intelligence operations in the Philippines.
One was found to have driven around Luzon and reached as far as the Malampaya natural gas field out at sea in Palawan. Two were caught installing CCTV cameras aimed at sea passages often taken by Philippine naval and coast guard vessels. Who knows how many more are out there, gathering bits and pieces of intelligence that can be used to the disadvantage of Filipinos?
Philippine authorities say they expect to catch more suspected spies in the near term. Here’s the story so far, from Rappler editor-at-large Marites Vitug. – Rappler.com
