Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle prays that Pope Francis would experience 'the solidarity and closeness of the Christian community'
MANILA, Philippines – Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, pro-prefect of the Vatican’s Dicastery for Evangelization, led the rosary for Pope Francis’ healing at Saint Peter’s Square on Tuesday, February 25.
Tagle prayed for the Pope’s health, and asked that he would experience “the solidarity and closeness of the Christian community.”
It was the second prayer service at Saint Peter’s Square as the Pope battles double pneumonia at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital. The first was led by the Vatican’s secretary of state, Cardinal Pietro Parolin.
Tagle, nicknamed Chito, was Manila archbishop when Francis visited the Philippines in January 2015. It was during this visit that Filipinos started to fondly call the pontiff “Lolo Kiko.”
