MANILA, Philippines – Cardinal Pablo Virgilio David, president of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines, recounted the moments after the election of Pope Leo XIV.
In a post-conclave press conference on Friday, May 9, David said he invited the Pope to visit the Philippines — the fourth papal visit to the country, if it pushes through.
Leo had visited the Philippines at least three times when he was still Father Robert Prevost, then the head of the Augustinian religious order around the world.
