MANILA, Philippines —  With his whereabouts unknown after being cited in contempt and ordered arrested by the House of Representatives, vlogger Allan Troy Rogando Sasot taunted lawmakers yesterday on his Facebook page, calling them “very corrupt.”

“It is an honor to be cited in contempt by a very, very corrupt House of Representatives, led by a very, very corrupt House Speaker,” Sasot said.

Sasot is one of four vloggers ordered arrested by the House tri-committee after being cited in contempt for snubbing subpoenas and – in the case of one of them – for publicly attacking the committee.

The tri-comm is investigating fake news and disinformation in social media. Sasot called the tri-comm a “kangaroo court.”

Also ordered arrested were Mark Anthony Lopez, Lorraine Marie Tablang Badoy-Partosa and Jeffrey Almendras Celiz. Lopez attended an earlier hearing but was cited in contempt for issuing statements attacking the tri-comm.

“Go ahead, continue your political persecution. Bilog ang mundo (What goes around, comes around). All I can say is, I know my international law,” Sasot said.

It was Abang Lingkod party-list Rep. Stephen Paduano who moved to cite in contempt the four vloggers for violation of tri-comm rules.

In an interview with Teleradyo, Surigao del Sur Rep. Johnny Pimentel said the vloggers – once taken into custody – may have to remain in detention until after the next hearing after the May 12 elections. Based on the order for his arrest, Lopez faces detention for only 10 days.
