ILOILO CITY — A vlogger from Janiuay, Iloilo was arrested on Thursday afternoon after climbing a signage tower along Diversion Road in Mandurriao district in this city.
The 30-year-old man intended to recreate the viral "budots" dance popularized by social media personality Elias TV on top of the tower.
Carrying a speaker and props such as a slingshot and arrow, the vlogger climbed the tower in front of Plazuela Uno to record what he described as his "most unique content yet."
The man is using the Facebook page, Probinsyano Vlog, which has 6,800 followers as of writing. His current following, however, is not yet sufficient for monetization under Meta's requirements.
The incident caught the attention of residents and passersby who thought the man was suicidal and would jump from the tower.

Authorities from the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) and Bureau of Fire Protection immediately responded to the scene.
The vlogger said he wanted to gain popularity not just for fame but to raise money for his child's surgery to treat and repair a throat condition.
Authorities are still coordinating with the management of the signage tower to determine whether formal charges of alarm and scandal will be filed against the content creator.
The vlogger was taken into custody and brought to ICPO Station 10. He was scheduled for a medical examination as part of standard procedure.
