MANILA, Philippines — Vivant Corp. is wading deeper into the water sector with plans to invest about P10 billion until 2030, setting its sights on becoming a key industry player.

“If conditions align and projects proceed as anticipated, we are looking at allocating around P10 billion over the next six years for investments in water infrastructure,” Vivant CEO Arlo Sarmiento said.

These projects include bulk water supply, wastewater treatment and distribution in areas where access to clean water and sanitation remain limited, he noted.

The Cebu-based water and energy conglomerate is actively pursuing growth opportunities within the province, which remains a key focus due to its “deep presence and familiarity.”

“Our evaluation considers projected demand growth, infrastructure gaps and the financial viability of long-term operations,” Vivant Water president and COO Jess Anthony Garcia said.

In April, Vivant Water sealed a 25-year joint venture deal with the Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) for water supply in the main urban center in Central Visayas.

Under the deal, the company’s desalination plant in the municipality of Cordova in Cebu will supply water to MCWD for distribution to the latter’s customers in Metro Cebu.

Slated for commercial operations this year, the facility is capable of producing up to 20 million liters of potable water each day.

It is envisioned to ensure water security for Metro Cebu, the country’s second-largest urban area after Metro Manila.

“As we deepen our presence in the water sector through projects like the country’s first utility-scale desalination plant, we are helping to support long-term water security,” Sarmiento said.

Looking ahead, Vivant has also affirmed its commitment to supporting the country’s bold energy transition push, channeling significant investments to expand its clean power capacity.
