MANILA, Philippines — Vice Ganda is not shy about his social and political views often shared on his popular noontime show and social media accounts.

He is only a few of the popular celebrities whose star power does not seem to get affected by his beliefs. On the contrary, people seem to wait for his stand on relevant social and political issues, just like how they rely on other artists to follow suit.

Vice might draw people to wait for his social commentaries, but he understands if there are artists who prefer to remain silent rather than speak out on the problems and important issues of the nation.

For Vice, his situation is a mix of privilege and courage — a fact that he is aware and thankful for.

“Gets ko rin naman sila. Not everyone is as privileged as me, 'di ba? Parang 'yung iba, kailangan pang… 'di ba? 'Yung iba, nag-iipon pa lang," Vice said in an interview.

Hindi 'yung parang…I can lose this endorsement, 'di ba?

Known for many monikers, among which is "Unkabogable Star," Vice stressed that people should respect each other's reasons for choosing to speak up or stay silent on issues.

When asked if he lost endorsement for being open in expressing his views on national issues, Vice was surprised that he gained more endorsements. He cited his Reader's Digest Most Trusted Brand award, which he said made him appear more credible to many readers.

Kasi, I speak my mind.

He also hopes that the time will come when more mainstream celebrities will be brave and willing to proudly express their feelings on social issues.

“Sana, kasi, malaking bagay, e. Malaking bagay, kasi makakapagbigay ka ng kaalaman. Nakapagpapaliwanag ka sa mga tao, 'di ba? May mga maitutuwid kang mali. Lalo ngayon, ang fake news, ang lala! Ang daming clickbait. Andaming fake news, ang daming clout-chasing articles," he said.
