MANILA, Philippines — Host-comedian Vice Ganda made it clear that public office is not in their plans going forward, but demanded more accountability from those who claim to be public servants.
During early portions of an interview with broadcast journalist Vice Ganda, the two discussed Vice's participations in rallies and her outspokenness when it comes to national issues.
Karen asked Vice if they ever got scared of losing brand endorsements or the support of fans, fears that some celebrities have which is why they keep opinions to themselves.
"Of course I do get scared, my family feels scared for me, pero I am very passionate about these things. I take them personally, lumalaban 'yung puso ko... hindi lang tungkol kasi sa akin," Vice said.
The comedian admitted they were now in a position to make their own decisions without having to worry if it would impact them financially, but fortunately for Vice, they've never lost an endorsement yet.
Vice doesn't blame other celebrities for not speaking out, especially when such people don't understand what they're fighting for.
Karen pointed out that many entertainers entered public office, citing veteran actor-politician Tito Sotto as an example, and Vice has the intelligence and capabilities to follow suit.
The "It's Showtime," however, turned any intention to run for Senate or any public position because it's not what their heart wants.
Vice explained that after God, public officials have to put their country first ahead of family and their needs, and it's that attitude in reverse that disappoints Vice in regards to the controversial issues involving contractors.
The comedian also admitted being approached to run but each time Vice instantly declined.
Karen hypothetically asked if Vice would run if they were given P500 million to do so, but Vice countered by saying they already had the money to sustain themselves.
Vice quipped. "Sa Pilipinas ubusan ng pera. Ano 'yun itatapon ko na lang?"
Vice also expressed discontent with the ongoing hearings and demanded that the people deserve more accountability, truth and actions.
— Video from Karen Davila's YouTube channel
