Ayala-led ACEN Corporation announced that its retail electricity unit has successfully switched four more Uratex Group facilities to 100 percent renewable energy (RE).

In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange on Monday, April 7, ACEN RES revealed that Uratex's operations in Magallanes, Shaw, Marcos Highway, and Isabela have been transitioned to clean energy.

These newly RE-powered facilities join Uratex’s seven other green energy sites across Luzon and Cebu, all operating under the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Green Energy Option Program (GEOP).

GEOP allows electricity consumers, like Uratex, to integrate RE sources and choose their own energy suppliers. With the expansion of its clean energy initiative to 11 facilities, ACEN RES presented Uratex with the “Powered by Renewable Energy” gold badge, recognizing their RE adoption.

Peachy Cheng-Medina, Uratex managing director, praised ACEN for their partnership in the clean energy transition.

“We look up to the Ayala Group and appreciate how our smaller steps towards sustainability are supported by your larger vision. Thank you for your partnership and for inspiring us to push forward,” she said.

Miguel de Jesus, managing director and chief operating officer for Philippine operations at ACEN, emphasized that their collaboration with Uratex supports the Philippines’ goal of increasing the RE share in the country’s power mix.

“This partnership not only accelerates Uratex’s sustainability journey but also enables ACEN to build more renewable energy capacity and support the country’s goal of increasing the share of renewables in the energy mix,” he stated.

“We look forward to a continued and expanding collaboration, exploring opportunities beyond just energy supply. We are committed to nurturing strong partnerships within the Ayala group, and we see immense potential to create synergies across our diverse businesses, including banking, communications, green mobility, and land development. By working together, we can unlock new avenues for innovation and sustainable growth,” de Jesus added.

ACEN currently holds less than 7 gigawatts (GW) of attributable RE capacity, encompassing operating, under-construction, and committed projects.
