Unity walk for peaceful polls held in Cavite

IMUS CITY — Candidates in 23 localities in Cavite gathered on Monday for a Unity Walk and Peace Covenant Signing in their respective areas in the province.

The Philippine National Police (PNP), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), and the Commission on Elections (Comelec) joined the unity walk in an utter show of solidarity and commitment to a peaceful and credible elections.

The activity was organized in preparations for the upcoming national and local elections, bringing together key officials, aspirants, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, and members of the public under one umbrella of peace, cooperation, and democratic integrity.

In Provincial Police Headquarters, Camp Gen Pantaleon Garcia in Barangay Poblacion 1-B.

The unity walk started early in the morning from the Imus City Plaza.

Present during the unity walk were gubernatorial bet Abeng Remulla and vice gubernatorial aspirant Ram Revilla, re-electionist Rep. Lani Merado-Revilla of Cavite's 2nd District, Rep. Adrian Jay Advincula of 3rd District, and Board member aspirants from 8 legislative districts.

Lawyer Mitzele Veron Morales-Castro, provincial election supervisor; Col. Dwight Alegre, acting provincial director of Cavite PPO; and Philippine Army representative 1Lt. Karen Bernardino also joined the walk.

Morales-Castro thanked the participants for their support, saying that it was important at the beginning of the election period.

She emphasized the importance of collaboration and vigilance in ensuring the success of SAFE 2025 National and Local Elections, and at the same time reminded them that election rules apply to both candidates and their supporters.

"Today, we renew our dedication to the principles of democracy and the rule of law. Let this covenant remind us that peace and integrity are shared responsibilities," she remarked.
