MANILA, Philippines — Japanese fast fashion retail brand Uniqlo yesterday opened its logistics facility in Cavite, one of its largest in Southeast Asia, signaling confidence in the local market.
Located in Riverpark North in General Trias, Cavite, the logistics facility was developed by Federal Land NRE Global Inc. (FNG) in collaboration with Uniqlo operator Fast Retailing Philippines Inc.
Uniqlo Philippines chief operating officer Geraldine Sia said that the newly opened facility is expected to set the benchmark for supply chain management in the Philippines.
“This is a fully air-conditioned apparel warehouse, one of the first of its kind in the Philippines and designed to provide a safe and comfortable working environment for Filipinos,” she said.
She said the facility was designed with a focus on its employees, the environment and communities being served.
The facility is expected to play an important role for Uniqlo as it aims to grow in the market.
“This facility will play a critical role in supporting our group. It allows us to strengthen our supply chain, support the rapid expansion of our e-commerce business and ensure a more stable and consistent availability of lifewear for our customers across the Philippines,” Sia said.
“Ultimately, this means a better, more seamless experience, whether customers are shopping in-store or online,” she said.
For his part, FNG president Thomas Mirasol said that the opening of the new facility also reflects market confidence in the Philippine market and the continued trust between Japanese and Filipino companies.
“This facility also reflects how our developments are evolving. While we continue to build residential and commercial spaces, we are also helping to create integrated environments where businesses can operate, communities can grow and opportunities can expand,” he said.
Uniqlo opened its first store in the Philippines in 2012.
Meanwhile, FNG is a joint venture of Federal Land Inc. of the Philippines and Nomura Real Estate Development Co. Ltd. of Japan.
