Unfaithfully? Arnel Pineda’s camp says singer filed adultery cases vs his wife first

UNFAITHFULLY? Arnel Pineda's camp claims that his wife, Cherry, filed a domestic violence case against him in retaliation to the two adultery cases he filed first.

MANILA, Philippines – Arnel Pineda’s legal counsel came forward to clarify that the Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) case the singer’s wife filed against him was retaliatory in nature.

Reports had circulated that the Journey vocalist was slapped with a bench warrant of arrest by Branch 99 of the Quezon City Regional Trial Court (RTC).

Bench warrants are typically issued when an individual fails to appear at hearings that call for their presence. Arnel’s legal counsel, the Chavez Miranda Aseoche Law Offices, clarified that the warrant for his arrest was not because he committed a crime.

“Mr. Pineda was required to appear, but at the time, he was confined in the hospital and could not attend. When the arraignment was later rescheduled, he remained unable to appear. For this reason, the court issued a bench warrant to compel his attendance,” his legal counsel said.

According to Arnel’s camp, he had first filed and pursued two cases of adultery against Cherry, which then prompted her to file the domestic violence complaint in response over a year later.

The reports claimed that prosecutors alleged that Cherry endured years of “verbal assault, manipulation, and coercive behavior” during her marriage to Arnel, prompting her to leave their home.

In 2023, he had supposedly caught his wife leaving a Baguio City hotel with another man, and was able to get video evidence to back his claims.

Private investigators then allegedly informed Arnel that Cherry and the man were using a unit in a commercial building owned by the the 58-year-old musician as a “love nest.”

Arnel filed the two cases, which are now pending and undergoing trial, with Branch 34 of the Metropolitan Trial Court of Quezon City and Branch 3 of the Municipal Trial Court of Baguio City.

The singer’s legal counsel then said that Cherry and her lover had already posted bail and have since been arraigned.

The Department of Justice then supposedly issued a resolution on September 4 directing the Office of the Quezon City Prosecutor to withdraw the findings of probable cause against Arnel.

“Mr. Pineda has remained silent about this matter out of respect for the judicial process, maintaining that disputes should be resolved in the proper courts of law and not in the court of public opinion. He could have gone to media when the 2 adultery cases were filed in court, but chose to observe the sub judice rule — which his wife obviously violated when she caused the release of this one-sided narrative,” his legal counsel said.

The Chavez Miranda Aseoche Law Offices attested that it was Cherry who “abandoned” their family, adding that it was Arnel who ended up caring for the children on his own.

Arnel’s camp added that the domestic violence case Cherry filed was already dismissed at the DOJ level.
