SANTA FE, Nueva Vizcaya — Authorities successfully conducted a render safe procedure (RSP) to retrieve an unexploded ordnance (UXO) in Barangay Tactac in this municipality on Tuesday.
The retrieval operation started on Monday after a concerned citizen, Danny Danguilan, reported the discovery of UXO while diverting the flow of water from a creek in his residential lot.

The already corroded UXO, identified as a 1,000-pound general-purpose bomb, was safely transported to a designated area before its final retrieval the following day.
On Tuesday, Buhente said that the team, together with the Santa Fe municipal police station and the municipal disaster risk reduction management office personnel, worked together to extricate the UXO using an improvised wooden cart and a Toyota Hilux winch.
“The successful RSP in the retrieval operation highlights the importance of community cooperation and the expertise of the NVPECU team in ensuring public safety and preventing potential harm from explosive hazards,” said Buhente.
