MANILA, Philippines — The Truck Manufacturers Association Inc. (TMA) is looking to sell more trucks this year as it expects strong demand from infrastructure projects and businesses.

In a statement yesterday, TMA expressed strong optimism about achieving higher truck sales this year, following last year’s performance.

Last year, TMA said the industry sold 6,783 units of Category III or light-duty trucks in 2025, up by 3.6 percent from 6,545 units in 2024.

In the Category IV or medium-duty segment, industry sales reached 3,690 units last year, down by seven percent from 3,970 units in 2024.

As for the Category V or heavy-duty trucks segment, TMA sales rose by 20.5 percent to 888 units last year from 737 units in 2024.

“Having achieved our industry truck sales targets in 2025, we are confident about the positive outlook for 2026. With sustained infrastructure development and vibrant economic activity, our member companies are well-prepared to meet the growing demand for reliable, efficient and innovative commercial vehicles that support the country’s development goals,” TMA president Robert Carlos, who also serves as head for sales at Isuzu Philippines Corp., said.

TMA expects this year’s sales to be supported by the government’s implementation of infrastructure projects.

The group also cited improving logistics demand and increasing investments in fleet modernization as among the key drivers of higher truck sales this year.

As Carlos assumes the role of TMA president, the group will be pushing for industry growth, road safety and sustainable transport solutions.

Meanwhile, Vicente Mills Jr. of Hino Motors Philippines Corp. will continue to serve as TMA’s chairman emeritus.

“This year, TMA will take a more active role in participating in government programs and initiatives, particularly those focused on road safety, environmental protection and possibilities to strengthen local truck manufacturing,” Carlos said.

He said TMA’s members would also continue to introduce innovations to their products, as well as integrate advanced safety measures and greener technologies to better serve Filipino businesses nationwide.
