MANILA, Philippines – Tropical Depression Crising slightly strengthened while moving over the sea east of the Bicol region on Wednesday evening, July 16.

Crising is still expected to intensify into a tropical storm on Thursday morning, July 17, and into a severe tropical storm on Friday afternoon or evening, July 18, while approaching Northern Luzon. PAGASA is also not ruling out the possibility that it may become a typhoon.

The tropical depression was located 615 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes, or 630 kilometers east of Juban, Sorsogon, as of 10 pm on Wednesday. It slowed down further, moving northwest at only 10 km/h from 20 km/h.
