This will be the third part of the anti-corruption rally. The first Trillion Peso March took place on Sept. 21, 2025, as a protest against corruption.
The second march occurred on Nov. 30, 2025, coinciding with Bonifacio Day.
A separate protest is also expected to be held at the EDSA Shrine, led by the Bagong Alyansang Makabayan.
A “high mass” is also expected at 6 p.m. at the EDSA Shrine to be presided over by Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Socrates Villegas, the protégé of former Manila Archbishop Cardinal Jaime Sin
Several universities suspended their classes for the anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution, as the government declared this day a “special working day.”
It has been 40 years since the 1986 People Power Revolution, a non-violent uprising that led to the ouster of the current president’s father, Ferdinand Marcos Sr., who ruled as a dictator after declaring Martial Law and had held the presidency since Dec. 10, 1965.
After 36 years, his son, Ferdinand Marcos Jr., won the 2022 elections.
