MANILA, Philippines — Tricycle drivers in Metro Manila will receive cash assistance starting tomorrow, with local governments ready to distribute the aid, according to Metro Manila Council president Francis Zamora.

Financial aid distribution will be “insulated from any form of political interferences,” the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has said.

A list of beneficiaries has been prepared by local governments through their respective tricycle regulatory boards, Zamora told dzRH yesterday.

“The only requirement is that the driver’s license must match the names on the list to avoid discrepancies,” Zamora said.

Each beneficiary will receive P5,000, funded through the DSWD’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations program.

The assistance is part of measures ordered by the Marcos administration to cushion the impact of soaring global oil prices amid Middle East tensions.

In San Juan, cash aid distribution will start at 6 a.m.

Zamora said local governments will receive rice allocations under the Local Government Support Fund program.
