BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — A municipal official in Mountain Province may be charged for allegedly killing a dog in Sadanga town on Thursday.

The official, whose name was withheld, was caught on video beating up an American Bully named Axle during a community event.

The video, which went viral on social media, showed the dog looking calm and harmless even with children around him.

The official was reportedly seen on video beating up the dog with a piece of wood.

A woman believed to be the owner of Axle pleaded the official to stop, but he reportedly ignored her.

Axle later died from injuries.

The incident sparked outrage among residents and pet owners, who sought justice for the dog.
