Lego executive Michael Halbye died after a fall during a skiing session in Switzerland, as revealed by management company Kirkbi. He was 64.
According to the statement, Halbye was airlifted to a nearby hospital after the accident took place in the Verbier region of the Swiss Alps. Aside from his associations with Lego, Halbye was also a known friend of the Danish royal family. King Frederik and Queen Mary have expressed their sorrow for Halbye's passing. Halbye had helped Queen Mary before in creating the Mary Foundation. This project aims to improve lives compromised by the environment, heredity, illness, or other circumstances that can isolate or exclude people socially.
"Michael Halbye was a man who possessed a rare positive energy, extensive knowledge, and a strong commitment to making a difference for those outside the community. He was also my friend, and he will be missed by many. My thoughts go out to his family and close friends," shares Queen Mary through the foundation's website.
