TikTok ban in the US delayed for 75 days

The TikTok ban in the US has been delayed for 75 days. The app was officially banned and removed from app stores in the country last Friday. However, it was restored within 24 hours with the transition of presidency from Joe Biden to Donald Trump.

One of Trump’s first executive orders was instructing the US attorney general to delay the ban for 75 more days. This gives ByteDance until April 5, 2025 to find a solution to avoid an abrupt shutdown for their platform.

The new executive order instructs the Department of Justice to hold off on taking action. It aims to “pursue a resolution that protects national security while saving a platform (TikTok) used by 170 million Americans.”

In addition, president-elect Trump has proposed a joint venture between ByteDance and the US government. To preserve national security, Trump says that the deal would end up with the latter owning 50% of TikTok.

We’ll have to see how ByteDance handles the situation. For now, TikTok is slated to resume operations in the US. Suffice it to say, the platform’s future in the country hinges on what will transpire in the coming months.

Well, the portfolio of scriptwriting, web content, and public relations help too, we suppose. As a homebody, he often spends his time on the streaming platform Twitch or ‘farming’ gaming clips with friends. He is also an avid fan of round glasses and anything relative to blueberries.
