Original Penguin and Perry Ellis are now in synergy. It’s the first in the world.

For most men, shopping is a mission. Window shopping? Nah. They know what they want and leave the store as soon as possible.

And the Anthem Group, a leading name in the Philippine retail sector, knows that all too well and dares to defy convention.

Representing a diverse array of global brands, the company continues to deliver unparalleled customer service and exceptional store designs that cater to their target market.

Just recently, the company unveiled the first-ever dual-brand store in the country, bringing together two iconic brands — Original Penguin and Perry Ellis — under Perry Ellis International Inc. that men love.

“It’s actually the first in the world,” enthuses Anthem CEO Eric Lee. “Original Penguin and Perry Ellis cater mostly to men. In fact, 70 percent of our clients are male. So there’s synergy in putting the brands side by side.”

During the launch on the 2/3 Mid Level East Wing of Shangri-La Plaza Mall, we spotted celebrity couples Julius Babao and Tintin Bersola, and Troy Montero and Aubrey Miles.

A fan of The White Lotus series, Julius checked out Original Penguin’s comfy and printed linen shirts, while Troy was drawn to Perry Ellis’ pants and polos.

“Original Penguin is my go-to golf wear. I love their shirts with playful prints,” Troy added. His fashion statement on the greens? “It’s nice to be a little loud.”

Design matters

Spanning 170 square meters, the space is divided into two distinct, masculine, yet flowing zones. One zone emphasizes the Original Penguin’s sporty, retro-cool vibe with relaxed features, light woods, and playful colors. In contrast, Perry Ellis employs a more minimalist and refined setup, featuring sleek metals, neutral tones, and tailored displays. Indeed, the dual-brand store is a curated destination for men who breathe style, elegance and versatility.

“Together, these two brands cover the full spectrum of contemporary menswear — from weekend comfort to office-ready chic,” says Eric.

In designing the store, Eric said they wanted to shift their approach away from impulsive purchases and instead “concentrate on creating a more immersive experience.”

“Our store design incorporates distinct textures and colors, with Original Penguin being adorned with soft, playful elements; and Perry Ellis with its sleek, structured finishes.”

These elements, he adds, remains true to their respective brands’ heritage, “weaving a narrative that underscores both brand’s unique strengths.”

As an added treat, guests can also enjoy a complimentary cup of Nespresso from the in-store coffee bar while browsing the collections.

Original Penguin: Cruise my heart

Original Penguin’s latest collection draws from three style concepts: The Palm Springs, Ibiza/Casablanca, and French Riviera.

Designed for cruising and tee-time, The Palm Springs palette features shades of white, green, blue, violet, and pink in ribbed and printed polos, cargo shorts, lightweight jackets, and crafted tees.

The Ibiiza/Casablanca collection, on the other hand, embraces The White Lotus aesthetics with coconut tree patterns, underwater mosaics, and abstract graphics in summer hues.

Launching in May, the French Riviera collection offers seaside-inspired prints. Key styles include ribbed polos, jacquard patterns, packable vests, and color-block shorts.

Perry Ellis: Timeless yet modern pieces

Known for timeless yet modern pieces, Perry Ellis introduces essentials like the Cool Interlock Tee, crafted from lightweight, moisture-wicking cotton, and the Geometric Pattern Polo Sweater which upgrades casual wear with a bold design. The Mesh Stripe Polo adds a breathable take on a classic silhouette with floral, bird camo, plaid and abstract leaf prints.
The new collection also includes jackets and trousers, enhanced with water-resistant technology.

“Our vision for opening this exciting concept is to seamlessly blend relaxed confidence with refined sophistication,” explained Eric.

A fusion of effortless style and elevated fashion — with free coffee to boot — this dual-brand store is, indeed, delivering what men need and want.
