Due to popular demand, Theater Group Asia extends the run of the musical starring Lea Salonga and Eugene Domingo
MANILA, Philippines — After an overwhelming sold-out run of tickets, Theater Group Asia (TGA) opens six additional shows for its upcoming production of Into The Woods.
The additional shows are happening at Samsung Performing Arts Theater on August 28, Thursday, at 7:30 pm; August 29, Friday, at 7:30 pm; August 30, Saturday, 2 pm and 7:30 pm; and August 31, Sunday, 2 pm and 7:30 pm.
The tickets for these dates will be available online via Ticketworld on March 28, Friday, for TGA Subscribers Exclusive and on March 30, Sunday, for the general public.
There will also be an onsite ticket sale at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater on Saturday, March 29, for PWD, senior citizens, and cash purchases.
According to the show’s executive, Chris Mohnani, the extension is due to the popular demand from theater enthusiasts and the general public. Close to 30,000 tickets sold out within the first two hours of the box office opening.
“This only illustrates how the Philippine theater scene is so alive! More and more, Filipinos are becoming more enthusiastic about theater once again, and this can only be a good thing for the industry and for our Philippine talents and creatives,” he said in a media statement.

Earlier this year, TGA revealed the star-studded cast of the production. Leading the ensemble is Tony and Olivier-winning Lea Salonga as the Witch, her child Nic Chien to play Jack, Carla Guevara Laforteza as the Giant and Little Red Riding Hood’s Granny, Arielle Jacobs as Cinderella, and multi-awarded actress Eugene Domingo as Jack’s mom.
The show, initially set for a limited run from August 7 to 24, is directed by Tony-awarded Clint Ramos and co-produced by John and Joanna Echauz.
Into the Woods is based on James Lapine’s book, following a story of a baker and his wife who went on a journey to break the witch’s curse preventing them from having a child, while tying to their story are the lives of several popular fairy tale characters. – Kevin Ian Lampayan/Rappler.com
