MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Storm Basyang has affected more than 400,000 people and forced tens of thousands into evacuation centers, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said. 

In its 8 a.m. report on Sunday, February 8, the NDRRMC said that there are 467,242 persons or 131,961 families that are affected by Basyang. 

Out of all the affected individuals, 16,297 persons are inside the evacuation centers, while 25,822 are outside the evacuation centers. 

Three people are also recorded as fatalities, according to the Sunday report. However, earlier reports said that fatalities are already 12 individuals. 

There were also 306 classes suspended, while there are 113 cities/municipalities where work was suspended in Region 6, Negros Island Region, Region 7 and CARAGA.

Damaged infrastructure. According to the agency, there are 407 partially destroyed houses recorded, while there are 38 destroyed houses. 

A total of 82 seaports were also affected, making 2,030 passengers stranded, along with 884 rolling cargoes, 104 vessels and 20 motorbancas. 

The government has so far provided P18,342,944.49 worth of assistance to affected individuals and families.
