Six Filipina rock icons are making waves in the music industry once again with the launch of the Tanaw Collective, a powerhouse group that celebrates the strength and creativity of women-led collaborations. Featuring Acel Bisa, Aia de Leon, Barbie Almalbis, Hannah Romawac, Kitchie Nadal, and Lougee Basabas, the collective unites these celebrated artists for new music, live performances and meaningful creative projects.

Ahead of their highly anticipated concert, "Tanaw: The Repeat," the group will release their debut single, "Landslide," on Jan. 31. The stripped-down rendition of Fleetwood Mac's classic hit was mixed and mastered by sound engineer Angee Rozul.

During a media conference, the artists spoke about how Landslide came to life.

"It all came naturally. Hannah was jamming the song during one of our first sessions at Barbie's house. The living room was filled with instruments, so we all just started playing. Landslide felt like it belonged in our repertoire, and it resonated deeply with all of us," de Leon recalled.

Bisa echoed her sentiment saying, "The lyrics really spoke to each of us. We all have different stories, but somehow, we're like parallels — different but the same. I've covered the song before, and it always felt close to my heart."

The single is a prelude to "Tanaw: The Repeat," set for February 9, at 8 p.m. at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Pasay City.

The concert will feature a mix of reimagined classics, including "Landslide," alongside fresh takes on their iconic solo hits. Select performances will be accompanied by symphonic arrangements from The Manila String Machine.

The title "Tanaw" (translated as "to gaze" or "to look out") captures the reflective essence of the event. Whether revisiting the past with gratitude or looking ahead with excitement, this concert embodies both personal journeys and the collective sisterhood that binds these powerful voices.

"We have a lot of surprises in store for everyone and a very special collaboration with The Manila String Machine. We also have new songs to perform, songs that we have produced and composed together as a collective so that's something to look forward to," teased Basabas.

Beyond the music, the group also emphasized how their bond has grown throughout the process.

"We've been friends for a long time and have always shown support for one another. But over the past year, our friendship has deepened even more. I can say that these women have become my lifeline. It's a very meaningful and rare friendship, one that I'm truly grateful to have in my life," Almalbis shared.

"Sometimes, the challenges we face are tough, but having friends like them keeps you going. I'm just grateful for the depth of our friendship and for being there for each other," she continued.

Basabas added, "One thing I treasure is how we walk together spiritually. It reminds us that our talent and opportunities are borrowed, and we're here to glorify God. That shared purpose keeps us grounded and connected."

The Tanaw Collective also hopes to inspire a new generation of musicians by sharing insights from their careers.

"Take care of yourself. I've experienced gigging so much that it felt like I couldn't take a break. But now I understand how important rest is — you have more to give when you're refreshed," said Romawac.

"It's not a competition. Enjoy each other's music. Be real, be authentic, and enjoy the process of creating. Don't focus on trends or whether your song will be a hit — just know your 'why' and make music that feels true to you," Bisa added.

Basabas, meanwhile, stressed the significance of mental health, recognizing that today's artists have greater awareness of well-being than their generation did.

"Success isn't a race — everyone has their own path and timeline," Basabas ended.

With few tickets remaining, fans are encouraged to secure their seats for "Tanaw: The Repeat" at tanawtherepeat.helixpay.ph.

The concert is presented by Newport World Resorts and co-presented by GNN and Wow Fiesta.
