MANILA, Philippines – The Taguig City government took over different government facilities in the Enlisted Men’s Barrios on Tuesday, May 6, following a court order from the Taguig Regional Trial Court (RTC).

Taguig RTC Executive Judge Loralie Cruz Datahan released the order on Monday, May 5, enforcing the Supreme Court’s final and executory decision affirming that the EMBO barangays, which used to be under Makati City, are part of Taguig.

The facilities covered by the decision include health centers, covered courts, multi-purpose buildings, day care centers, parks, and other public properties designated for community use under Proclamation 518 and Proclamation 1916.

The court found that Taguig “has sufficiently established extreme urgency for the present application , and that it stands to suffer grave injustice and irreparable injury without the injunctive relief prayer for.”

The Temporary Restraining Order prohibits Makati and its agents from denying Taguig entry to and use of properties and facilities located in the EMBO barangays, and from interfering with Taguig’s full and exclusive possession and operation of said public properties.

At the beginning of 2024, residents of EMBO lost access to yellow card benefits, the city-subsidized healthcare program of the Makati City government.

In response, the Taguig City government offered free teleconsultations to affected residents.

EMBO barangays include Cembo, South Cembo, Comembo, East Rembo, West Rembo, Pembo, Rizal, Pitogo, Post Proper Northside, and Post Proper Southside. – Rappler.com
