MANILA, Philippines — A 10-day summer camp for children with special needs has been launched in Infanta, Quezon, bringing together 200 participants from different areas including Metro Manila.

Pedya Kamp, a non-government and non-profit organization advocating for children with special needs, said the activity at the Infanta Central Elementary School started on May 7 and will run until May 18.

The event aims to promote inclusivity, awareness and developmental growth among children with special needs by exposing them to various educational and recreational activities.

Event organizers said that walk-in participants and volunteers will be accepted throughout the duration of the program without having to pay registration fees.

Founded in 1991 by Art Libao, Pedya Kamp is now on its 36th year of conducting outreach camps and advocacy programs across the country.

The organization has visited nearly 30 provinces nationwide, from Aparri and Cagayan to Davao and General Santos City in Mindanao.

Libao said Pedya Kamp seeks to raise community awareness on the needs and capabilities of children with special needs while encouraging greater acceptance and support for them from society.
