MANILA, Philippines — In a compelling expression of rhythm, culture and artistry, a celebration of powerful dance performances unfolds at Circuit Makati from April 22 to April 26.
The International Dance Day Fest (IDDF) 2026 transforms the Samsung Performing Arts Theater into a space where ballet, contemporary, folk, and street dance bring together extraordinary dance talents both local and international.
The IDDF is organized by Ayala Land, Make it Makati, Circuit Makati, the Samsung Performing Arts Theater, with additional partnership support from Ayala Corporation and Steps Dance Foundation.
For historical context, the International Dance Day 2026 will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 29, to honor the birthday of Jean-Georges Noverre, the French dancer and ballet master considered the creator of modern ballet. It is a global celebration dedicated to the art of dance, established by the Dance Committee of the International Theatre Institute (ITI) in 1982, in partnership with UNESCO.
“It’s that very exciting time of the year where you see all kinds of dance for one week. We’re opening with American Ballet Theatre Studio Company on the 22nd of April. It's at 7:30 p.m. I hope to see you there. They will have two fabulous principal dancers, Christine Shevchenko and Thomas Forster,” said Sofia Zobel Elizalde, founder and director of Steps Dance Studio, as she invites everyone to the International Dance Day Fest 2026.
On April 23, Thursday, is the Folk and Traditional Dance Gala, which celebrates the richness of Filipino culture through traditional movement and storytelling. The performers are Bayanihan, The National Folk Dance Company; PNU Kislap Sining Dance Troupe; UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe; Sindaw Philippines Performing Arts Guild; UP Filipiniana; Kaloob Philippine Music and Dance Ministry; Alun Alun Dance Circle with Marikina Dance Guild; Likhang Sining Dance Company (Batangas); Perpetual Sanlahi Pangkat Mananayaw; and Sining Tanglawan ng San Jose Del Monte Performing Group.
On April 24, Friday, is the Street Dance Gala, which gathers some of the most energetic crews and performers in the local scene: Unrlvd, W3, Mixed Nuts, and Eleven 11.
On April 25, Saturday, is the Ballet Gala, which highlights the precision and grace of classical dance, featuring some of the country’s leading ballet talents: Ballet Manila Inc., Philippine Ballet Theater. Ballet Philippines, Alice Reyes Dance Philippines, Steps Dance Studio, and Association of Ballet Academies in the Philippines.
The closing night will be on April 26, Sunday, with the Contemporary Gala, presenting innovative and expressive works that reflect the evolving language of modern dance with performances by Hiraya; UP Dance Company; Galaw.Co Dance Theater; Benilde Experimental Dance; Airdance; Daloy Dance Company; The Project DP; Rhosam Prudenciado; FEU Dance Company; and Dance Forum.
