MANILA, Philippines — March 14 has been declared a special non-working day in Antipolo for the conduct of a special election in the city’s second legislative district, according to the Commission on Elections.

The Comelec said Malacañang issued Proclamation 1173 declaring the holiday to facilitate the special election for the replacement of congressman Romeo Acop, who died in December.

The non-working day aims to enable voters to participate in the electoral exercise and allow an orderly and secure conduct of the election.

The Comelec has released the list of 36 designated voting centers, which will accommodate 348 clustered precincts across several barangays in the second district.

Among barangays, San Jose has the largest number of voters with 12 designated voting centers.

The San Jose National High School will serve as the largest voting site, handling 40 clustered precincts while the J. Cabarrus Elementary School will host 16 precincts.

In Barangay San Roque, six voting centers have been designated, with the San Roque National High School and the Juan Sumulong Elementary School accommodating 16 and 12 clustered precincts, respectively.

Voters have been advised to verify their precincts and voting centers ahead of election day to prevent delays
