Frozen yogurt brand Yolé has opened its first standalone store in the Philippines at Robinsons Place Manila.

Hailing from Spain, known for its no-added-sugar and dairy-free options, the froyo brand aims to offer alternatives for a range of dietary preferences.

Yolé’s menu includes dairy-based frozen yogurt and oat milk-based ice cream, all made without added sugar.

Non-dairy flavors include Choco Hazelnut, Peanut Butter, Mango Passion Fruit, and Pistachio, while dairy options include frozen yogurt and Italian-style ice cream.

The new branch features seating for up to 12 people and offers a customizable dessert experience with various toppings and flavors.

Healthwise, why is it important for people to opt out or lessen their sugar consumption?

In a 2024 report, a study showed that more than 800 million adults have diabetes worldwide.

Diabetes is a chronic disease that occurs when not enough insulin is produced by the pancreas, or when the body cannot effectively use the insulin produced by the pancreas.

The World Health Organization defines Type 1 diabetes as a lack of insulin production. On the other hand, Type 2 diabetes, which usually develops in adulthood, is related to obesity, physical inactivity, and unhealthy diets.

According to Healthline, when ingested in small amounts, sugar is fine, but too much of it can lead to “weight gain, acne, Type 2 diabetes, and may increase your risk of heart disease.” —Hermes Joy Tunac/JCB, GMA Integrated News
