K-netizens and K-drama fans all over the world were shocked to hear the news that South Korean actress Kim Sae Ron passed away at the age of 24.
According to Soompi, Seoul Seongdong Police Station reported that “there were no signs of crime including break-in” and investigations of Sae Ron's passing are currently ongoing.
"We kindly ask for consideration of the deceased and the bereaved family and that you refrain from speculating about the specific circumstances and manner of death. We ask for your understanding that the police cannot confirm,” they said.
The authorities also stated that Kim Sae Ron was initially discovered by a friend who she promised to meet up with.
Sae Ron was notably known for her talented acting skills since debut last 2009. She starred in movies A Brand New Life and The Man From Nowhere.
The late actress also appeared in several K-dramas such as Hi! School Love On, Can You Hear my Heart, and The Queen's Classroom. Her most recent project was the 2023 series Bloodhounds.
Other than her projects, Kim Sae Ron also created headlines due to scandals and rumors. In 2014, at 13 years old, she was involved in a drinking and smoking scandal, which she firmly denied. There was also a time the actress was spotted playing games at a poker bar in downtown Seoul which she was determined to win her case and even hired a lawyer from a top law firm in South Korea to represent her.
Last year, she was also linked to a dating rumor with South Korean actor Kim Soo Hyun. Soo Hyun's agency firmly denied and announced taking strong legal action to address the malicious comments that surrounded Soo Hyun.
Despite these issues and scandals, her career still flourished with many fans supporting her side.
