MANILA, Philippines — Social media personality and self-proclaimed trillionaire Francis Leo Marcos was transferred to the Parañaque city jail yesterday, after failing to post P120,000 bail for his release.
Supt. Jayrex Joseph Bustinera, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology spokesman, said the transfer was in compliance with a commitment order issued by the Parañaque Regional Trial Court Branch 294, which ordered his arrest for 12 counts of unjust vexation.
Marcos, whose real name is Norman Mangusin, arrived at the detention facility at 10:20 a.m.
The social influencer was clad in orange detention shirt and handcuffed as he was brought to a police car that transported him to the city jail. He did not answer questions from journalists on why he did not post bail.
Despite boasting that he is a trillionaire, Marcos apparently was not able to pay the required bail bond.
“It is either there is a problem with documentation or he does not have the funds to pay,” said Col. John Guiagui, head of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-National Capital Region field office.
Meanwhile, boxing icon Manny Pacquiao is set to file a cyber libel complaint against Marcos.
The vlogger reportedly claimed that Pacquiao owes him money.
Pacquiao added that Marcos made fun of the physical appearance of his mother, Dionisia.
“He said my mother looks like a bakulaw (gorilla). That hurt me,” Pacquiao said.
He added that he is bent on filing the cases “to teach him a lesson and stop maligning other people.”
