MANILA, Philippines — Freight giant 2GO Group Inc., a member of the SM Group of Companies, is preparing an expanded suite of shipping services to heighten its competitiveness as the logistics industry continues to grow at a robust pace.

Based on 2GO’s estimates, the Philippine logistics market has reached $55.65 billion as of 2024, and is projected to go up by six percent yearly until 2030.

On top of this, the country’s e-commerce segment was projected to breach the $28-billion mark in 2025, propelled by a consumer demographic that is rapidly shifting online.

2GO president and CEO Frederic DyBuncio said the company is expanding its menu of services, from express delivery and freight cargo, to digital fulfillment and sea travel. He underscored the importance of developing new solutions, as business and consumer requirements evolve.

“As the Philippine economy grows, logistics becomes even more essential. Our role is to ensure that goods, services and people move reliably and efficiently across the country,” DyBuncio said.

In particular, 2GO is widening the reach of its e-commerce capability, as it shoots for nationwide pickup, sorting and shipment, backed by digital tracking for real-time monitoring of deliveries.

Likewise, 2GO is improving its freight forwarding with temperature-controlled cargo handling, a service so needed by exporters to maintain the quality of products sent across the globe.

2GO is expanding the reach of its rolling cargo with fresh investments on new routes, including its latest connection, the Manila-Siargao voyage that leaves weekly.

DyBuncio said 2GO is investing more on customer service, new assets and operational efficiency this year. The shipper also aims to offer a wider range of services to cover all kinds of customers, may they be small and medium enterprises (SMEs) or corporations.

“Growth these days requires flexibility and integration. Our priority is to make logistics simpler for our customers by offering solutions that are reliable, scalable and aligned with specific needs, whether they are SMEs, large enterprises or online sellers,” DyBuncio said.

For the industry, DyBuncio said logistics would keep on expanding, even as the economy grows slower, as customers demand point-to-point solutions to reduce unnecessary touchpoints.

DyBuncio said as long as shippers like 2GO keep trade costs reasonable and scale up their reach here and overseas, they would remain critical to national development.
