MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has given assistance to the family of motorcycle taxi rider Fabio Norberte Jr., who was stabbed to death by his passenger in Caloocan on July 14.

“We learned that he was a solo parent and he has a child with autism spectrum disorder,” DSWD spokesperson Irene Dumlao said.

Aside from funeral assistance through a guarantee letter, the DSWD gave P10,000 and a food pack to the victim’s sister.

Norberte was attacked with an ice pick by his passenger. His motorcycle was also taken by the suspect.
