MANILA, Philippines — The food group of conglomerate Aboitiz Equity Ventures Inc. (AEV) is beefing up its position in the specialty nutrition space through the acquisition of Singapore-based manufacturer Diasham Resources Pte. Ltd.
AEV said that subsidiary Gold Coin Management Holdings Pte. Ltd. has completed the full equity acquisition of Diasham, expanding significantly the specialty nutrition portfolio of Aboitiz Foods, while also strengthening its manufacturing capabilities.
Diasham is a distributor of high-quality animal nutrition and health solutions with nearly five decades of expertise.
It serves a broad customer base across the Asia-Pacific region with its high-quality solutions, including feed additives, water-soluble products, injectables and liquid products.
With established distribution networks in key markets like Thailand, Indonesia, China, Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan, Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia and Bangladesh, Diasham’s acquisition bolsters Aboitiz Foods’ regional footprint.
“This acquisition gives us a more complete range of products and solutions to offer our customers across the region,” Aboitiz Foods president and CEO Tristan Aboitiz said.
Aboitiz said Diasham has built a strong legacy and developed deep customer relationships over many decades – factors that mattered in the group’s decision to engage in the transaction.
“We look forward to carrying on the legacy and to working with the talented team at Diasham to continue to enhance the ways in which we add value to our customers’ businesses across the region,” he said.
The acquisition builds on Aboitiz Foods’ successful expansion in Asia, following its initial international investment in Vietnam over a decade ago.
In 2018, it acquired animal feed manufacturer Gold Coin Management, which now represents the company’s largest operations outside the Philippines.
Aside from food and beverage, AEV has strategic investments in power, banking and financial services, infrastructure, land and emerging fields such as data science and artificial intelligence.
