A KALEIDOSCOPE of vibrant colors, rhythmic music, and cultural pride took center stage on Jan. 19, 2025, as Santa Rosa celebrated the 26th Sikhayan Festival alongside its 233rd Founding Anniversary.
With the theme "Pamilyang Santa Rosa: Progresong Walang Hinto, Sama-Samang Paglago" (Santa Rosa Family: Unstoppable Progress, Shared Growth Together), the event united residents and visitors in a celebration of tradition and progress. Sikhayan, short for Sikap sa Kabuhayan (Striving for Livelihood), honors the entrepreneurial spirit that transformed Santa Rosa into the "Lion City."
Mayor Arlene Arcillas expressed gratitude for the collective effort driving the city's success. Reflecting on her late father, Mayor Leon Arcillas, she noted, "Santa Rosa's achievements are proof of what unity and collaboration can accomplish."
The Street Dance Competition, featuring nine barangay, was the festival's highlight. Barangay Tagapo claimed the championship, with Barangays Dila and Pulong Santa Cruz taking second and third places. Special awards added flair: Barangay Market Area was crowned Reyna ng Sikhayan, Barangay Tagapo won Best in Costume, and Barangay Dila received Best in Street Dance.
Vice Mayor Arnold Arcillas emphasized Sikhayan's role in fostering pride and responsibility. "This celebration is about committing to a brighter future," he said.
