Heavy rains, gusty winds

The state weather bureau warned of heavy rainfall ranging from 100 to 200 millimeters over Northern Samar and Eastern Samar. Meanwhile, rainfall of 50 to 100 millimeters is expected over Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Samar, Biliran, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte and Agusan del Norte.

Aside from heavy rain, the northeast monsoon or amihan, enhanced by the periphery of Ada, will bring strong to gale-force gusts over Batanes, the Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, eastern Isabela, Aurora, CALABARZON, Occidental and Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, Marinduque, Cuyo Islands, Bicol Region, Visayas, and Caraga, especially in coastal and upland areas.

Track, intensity

Tropical Storm Ada may still bring heavy rainfall and strong winds to areas outside its possible landfall point, as its track remains subject to change, according to PAGASA.

The state weather bureau said Ada will move generally northwestward today through Saturday before turning north-northwestward to northeastward by Sunday.

“On the forecast track, the center of Ada may pass close to Eastern Samar and Northern Samar tomorrow and Catanduanes by Sunday,” PAGASA said, adding that a westward shift could lead to a possible landfall over Eastern Visayas and the Bicol Region.

Beginning Tuesday evening, Ada is forecast to move southeastward while remaining over the sea east of the Bicol Region.

PAGASA said Ada is expected to stay at tropical storm strength while over the sea east of the Visayas and Southern Luzon, but may weaken into a tropical depression by Tuesday.
