SIA Engineering Company Ltd. (SIAEC), a major aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) provider in Asia-Pacific, is expanding its presence in the Philippines with its subsidiary beginning operations at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

In a statement on Wednesday, Aug. 6, Ramon S. Ang, New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) president and chief executive officer, said that SIA Engineering (Philippines) Corp. (SIAEP), which is majority-owned by the Singapore Airlines Group, will commence operation by September 2025.

Ang said SIAEC’s decision to expand into NAIA reflects confidence in the ongoing improvements at the airport and its potential to become a stronger aviation hub.

According to NNIC, this will help provide faster aircraft turnaround and improved technical support for both airlines and passengers.

“This is a big boost for NAIA and for Philippine aviation. We welcome SIAEP and look forward to working closely with them to improve support for airlines operating here,” Ang said.

He added that this is part of a “broader push to raise NAIA’s standards and make it a better, more reliable gateway not only for travelers, but for the aviation industry as a whole.”

The entry of SIAEP at NAIA is also expected to benefit the broader aviation industry by opening up more opportunities for skills development, knowledge transfer, and jobs in aircraft maintenance.

Additionally, with other major MRO companies also expressing interest in establishing a presence at NAIA, the market will see more competition, which will lead to better service options and greater overall efficiency for airlines.
