CEBU CITY — A shooting rampage left three people dead and one wounded in Sitio Jagna, Barangay Maribago, on Friday night in an incident authorities believe was fueled by illegal drugs.

The suspect, identified as 40-year-old Eduardo Taghoy Jr., a resident of Barangay Maribago, was arrested by mem-bers of the Lapu-Lapu City Police and SWAT after the rampage.

The three victims have been identified as 26-year-old photographer Junrey Balmocena Jamora, lending officer Mary Anne Ciño and a person known as Ngangang Aying, all of whom died at the scene.

A fourth individual, Antonio Sapotalo Jr., was injured and is receiving treatment at the hospital.

Authorities said Taghoy started by targeting Aying and then shot the others indiscriminately.

Police later recovered a.45 caliber pistol, illegal drugs and paraphernalia from his home.

Taghoy, who had been released from prison just four months ago after serving time for a drug-related offense, remains in custody and faces multiple charges.

Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard "Ahong" Chan expressed his condolences, stating that he was deeply saddened by the lives lost in the tragic incident.

He assured the public that operatives were continuing to investigate the true circumstances behind the event and promised an update would be provided soon.

"We will provide an update as soon as possible. Thanks to our police and SWAT members for arresting the gun-man," the mayor said.
