MANILA, Philippines — The shear line may bring moderate to intense rains in some areas while the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) and northeast monsoon will also affect the country, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration yesterday.
At a briefing, PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina said that no low-pressure areas and typhoons were monitored inside and outside the Philippine area of responsibility.
“The effect of the shear line will continue in the Bicol region, including Aurora and Quezon. The ITCZ will affect Visayas, Mindanao and Palawan. A big portion of Luzon will experience rains due to the northeast monsoon,” Badrina said.
“In the next few days, there is a small chance that a typhoon may develop but the shear line will bring rains,” Badrina noted.
