COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Various sectors and the chairperson of the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) 12 lauded on Saturday, May 30, the relatives of a shabu dealer who helped entrap him on Wednesday, May 27, in Glan town in Sarangani province.
Charlene Magdurulang, regional director of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 12, told reporters on Saturday that the detained suspect had been charged with violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The 43-year-old suspect was immediately arrested by PDEA 12 agents and operatives from different units of the Police Regional Office 12 after selling to them 15 grams of shabu, costing P102,000, during an entrapment operation in Purok Basakan in Barangay Tapon in Glan, one of the seven towns in Sarangani province in Region 12.
The entrapment operation was launched after close relatives of the suspect, who had eluded five anti-narcotics stings in the past two years, suggested to officials of the PDEA 12 and the PRO-12 and the Sarangani Provincial Police Office when and where to best entrap him.
His relatives had told reporters that they were so embarrassed with his shabu and marijuana peddling activities in Glan and in the nearby cities of General Santos and Koronadal, prompting them to give him away, without hesitation.
Magdurulang and South Cotabato Gov. Reynaldo Tamayo Jr., who is presiding chairperson of the multi-sector RPOC 12, and peace-advocacy groups in Sarangani and PRO 12 officials separately lauded on Saturday the relatives of the suspect who helped plan the entrapment operation that led to his arrest.
