SEC drafts rules on public offering of ‘sukuk’ securities

MANILA, Philippines — The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) seeks to open the country to Shariah-compliant investments. As it pushes the development of the Islamic capital market, the commission released its proposed rules covering ‘sukuk’ issuances meant to protect investors and align with global standards. Sukuk securities refer to Shariah-compliant certificates that represent a group or
