MAASIN CITY, Southern Leyte — The search continues for the construction foreman of a road project who was reported missing following a landslide in Barangay San Remegio, San Ricardo, Southern Leyte on Sunday.

Danny Atienza, Southern Leyte Provincial Risk Reduction Council chief, reported during the regular session of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan on Monday that the search and rescue team is working round the clock to find the missing person.

  "We are doing our best to find and rescue  the lone missing person," Atienza said.

  The missing person was identified as Dador Moscosa, 54, foreman of 888 ACY Construction commissioned by the Department of Public Works and Highways to repair a viaduct project at Barangay San Remegio.

  Moscosa was reportedly sleeping at the bunkhouse when a mass of earth and rock cascaded from the mountain during a heavy downpour on Sunday.

Damaged by landslide are two houses, a temporary shelter for construction workers, several motorcycles, a dump truck and a cement mixer.

Engaged in the search, rescue, and retrieval operations are personnel from the Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Department of Public Works and Highways, Philippine Army, and local volunteers.

Southern Leyte board member Virgilio Mortera, meanwhile, has pushed  for an investigation of the incident.

The provincial government, on the other hand, has provided immediate relief and food assistance to affected families now staying in tents in an open space in the barangay.
